My journey to becoming a Marriage and Family Therapist started as a young girl. It may surprise some to think an 11-year-old wanted to be a therapist, but it’s true. My original dream was to become a psychologist. This dream took a lot longer than I originally planned for it to take. I think the saying is God laughs at man’s plans. After 20 years in the corporate world and changes in my personal life, the time and opportunity were finally there to return to school and gain my graduate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Which I started in 2020. While looking into which program I wanted to enroll in, I spoke with a colleague at my corporate job who informed me about the Marriage and Family therapist degree at a local college. Surprisingly, this program was not on my radar. After meeting with the program director, I knew that becoming a Marriage and Family therapist aligned with my goals, my vision for myself, and my future as a therapist. Finally, I was on the path to my 11-year-old self-dreams, and I couldn’t have been happier. I opened my private practice in September 2022, and I haven’t looked back since. I realize how incredibly blessed I am to be living my dream. Getting to this place may have taken many years, but I did it. I am truly living my life’s purpose. I have the honor and privilege, to sit with my clients as I help guide them through healing from life’s wounds. The beauty that I get to witness, through my client’s healing journey is so meaningful and joy provoking, my soul smiles. I am living what I was meant to do in this world.
